How do I clean The Studio Chair?
It’s easy to keep looking fresh. Give the fabric a light vacuum every now and then (low suction works best) to remove dust and crumbs. For small spills, gently dab the area with a sponge and a mild wool detergent or upholstery cleaner. Don’t soak the fabric, and let it dry completely before you sit on it again.

For the oak veneer, wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and sitting water, which can damage the finish.

How long will The Studio Chair last?
The Studio Chair is built to last, and backed by our lifetime warranty. If any structural part fails due to poor workmanship, we’ll repair or replace it. The fabric and foam are covered for 2 years. With regular cleaning and a quick check that the bolts are tight every few months, it’ll stay looking and sitting its best for years. See our lifetime warranty for full details.

Will the fabric pill or fade?
The textured fabric is made for everyday use, so it holds up well to regular sitting. Like most upholstery, some light pilling can happen over time, especially where clothing rubs most. A fabric shaver will lift it off in seconds. To keep the colour rich, avoid placing the chair in strong direct sunlight for long periods.

How will The Studio Chair arrive?
The Studio Chair arrives in a compact recycled cardboard carton, measuring 56W x 56D x 27.6H (cm) and weighing 12kg. It’s easy to carry up stairs or into a lift, and small enough to get through any front door.

What if my chair arrives damaged?
Don’t stress, we pack every chair snugly inside its box. Boxes can pick up a few dents or scuffs on the way, but that doesn’t mean what’s inside is damaged. Open the box, check that everything is in good condition, and hold off on assembly until you’re happy with it. If anything is damaged, email us at hello@recess.com.au with a few photos and we’ll sort it out.

Can I track my order?
Yes. If you add your mobile number at checkout, we’ll text you when your order is dispatched, with your tracking number. Tracking updates usually start showing that evening, once your order is scanned into our courier’s Sydney depot.

How long is delivery?
Unless the product you ordered is on 'Pre-order', most orders arrive in 2-3 business days for metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane customers. Adelaide is 3-5 business days, and other states and areas are 5-10 business days. Shipping rates depend on the product and your delivery address. See our shipping policy for full details.

Do you deliver to regional and remote areas?
Yes, we deliver to most regional and remote areas across Australia. Delivery costs a little more the further we travel, and you’ll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.

Some remote areas can’t be selected at checkout, but we can usually still get your order to you. Email us at hello@recess.com.au with your suburb, postcode and the product you’d like, and we’ll send you a custom delivery quote. 

Can I request professional assembly or white-glove delivery?
Yes, for customers in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Just add our Sit Back & Relax service at checkout. We’ll deliver, assemble and take care of the packaging recycling and disposal, so all you need to do is open the door.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Choose your preferred method at checkout.

Can I pay with Afterpay or Zip?
Yes. You can choose Afterpay or Zip at checkout to spread the cost of The Studio Chair over time. Eligibility criteria, terms and fees may apply, so check with the provider before you buy.

Is my payment secure?
Yes. Our checkout is powered by Shopify, which is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest standard for payment security. Your card details are encrypted and processed securely, and we never see or store your full card number.

Do you offer discounts for bulk or business orders?
Yes. Buy two or more Studio Chairs and save, with up to 10% off when you buy four or more. For larger or more complex orders, email our team at sales@recess.com.au and we’ll put together a quote.

What’s your return policy?
We offer 30-day change-of-mind returns, so you can try The Studio Chair at home and make sure it’s right for your space. Just get in touch within 30 days of delivery and we’ll cover the return freight. We’ll email you a prepaid label to print and stick on the box, or if you’re in Sydney, we’ll book a courier to collect it, no printing needed.

Once it’s back with us, we’ll refund your purchase price, minus the shipping paid at checkout. If the chair has been assembled, a 10% restocking fee also applies. See our returns and refunds policy for full details.

This doesn’t affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law. If your chair is faulty, we’ll repair, replace or refund it at no cost to you.

Does my chair need to be unassembled and unused to return it?
No. We know you need to sit in a chair to know if it’s right for you, so you’re welcome to assemble and try it. If you return it unassembled in its original box and packaging, there’s no restocking fee. If it’s been assembled, a 10% restocking fee applies, as the gas lift is very hard to remove once fitted and makes the return more complex.

Can I swap my chair for a different colourway?
Yes. If your chair is still unassembled and in its original box and packaging, we can swap it for a different colourway for a flat $50 fee, which covers collecting your chair and delivering the new one. Just email us at hello@recess.com.au within 30 days of delivery.

Is The Studio Chair sustainably made?
The oak veneer on The Studio Chair is made from FSC-certified timber, sourced from responsibly managed forests. It arrives in a recycled cardboard carton, and it’s backed by our lifetime warranty on structural parts, so it’s built to stay in your home and out of landfill. Can I recycle the packaging?
Yes. The carton is made from recycled cardboard and can go straight in your household recycling bin. Remove any tape and non-cardboard protective packaging inserts, and check your local council’s guidelines for soft plastics.
