How do I clean and care for The Studio Standing Desk?
Wipe the oak top with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and sitting water. Use coasters under hot or wet cups, and a desk mat if you write or use a mouse in the same spot every day. Wipe the legs and frame with a dry or lightly damp cloth.

Will the oak change colour over time?
Like all natural oak, the top will slowly deepen in tone with exposure to light. It’s part of the character of solid timber. Keep the desk out of strong direct sunlight to help the colour stay even.

Can scratches be repaired?
Yes. Because the top is solid oak rather than veneer, light scratches and marks can be gently sanded back and refinished with [X]. For deeper damage, get in touch at hello@recess.com.au and we’ll point you in the right direction.

How long will The Studio Standing Desk last?

What should I do if the desk stops moving?

Most issues can be fixed with a quick reset. Check the power cable is plugged in, then press and hold the down button until the desk reaches its lowest height and beeps. If that doesn’t solve it, email us at hello@recess.com.au and we’ll help.

How does shipping work and who handles delivery?
Most orders arrive in 2-3 business days in metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, 3-5 business days in Adelaide, 5-7 business days in regional areas, and 7-10 business days for other states and territories. Shipping rates depend on the product and your delivery address. See our shipping policy for full details.

How will The Studio Standing Desk arrive?
The Studio Standing Desk arrives in 2 recycled cardboard cartons, packed without styrofoam. The frame carton measures 86 x 35 x 25 (cm) and weighs 30kg, and the top cartons measure 167W x 84D x 12H (cm) 25kg for the large and 137W x 84D x 12H (cm) 20kg for the small. If you’re in an apartment, our courier delivers to the main foyer, so having a friend to help carry them up is a good idea.

Can I get professional assembly or white-glove delivery?
Yes, for customers in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Just add our Sit Back & Relax service at checkout. We’ll deliver, assemble and take care of the packaging recycling and disposal, so all you need to do is open the door.

Can I track my order?
Yes. If you add your mobile number at checkout, we’ll text you when your order is dispatched, with your tracking number. Tracking updates usually start showing that evening, once your order is scanned into our courier’s Sydney depot.

What if my desk arrives damaged?
Don’t stress, we pack every desk snugly inside its boxes. Boxes can pick up a few dents or scuffs on the way, but that doesn’t mean what’s inside is damaged. Open the boxes, check that everything is in good condition, and hold off on assembly until you’re happy with it. If anything is damaged, email us at hello@recess.com.au with a few photos and we’ll sort it out.

Do you deliver to regional and remote areas?
Yes, we deliver to most regional and remote areas across Australia. Delivery costs a little more the further we travel, and you’ll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.

Some remote areas can’t be selected at checkout, but we can usually still get your order to you. Email us at hello@recess.com.au with your suburb, postcode and the product you’d like, and we’ll send you a custom delivery quote.

Can I pay with Afterpay or Zip?
Yes. You can choose Afterpay or Zip at checkout to spread the cost of The Studio Desk over time. Eligibility criteria, terms and fees may apply, so check with the provider before you buy.

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Choose your preferred method at checkout.

Is my payment secure?
Yes. Our checkout is powered by Shopify, which is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest standard for payment security. Your card details are encrypted and processed securely, and we never see or store your full card number.

What’s your return policy?
We offer 30-day change-of-mind returns, so you can see The Studio Standing Desk in your space and make sure it’s right. Just get in touch within 30 days of delivery and we’ll cover the return freight. We’ll email you a prepaid label to print and stick on the box, or if you’re in Sydney, we’ll book a courier to collect it, no printing needed.

Once it’s back with us, we’ll refund your purchase price, minus the shipping paid at checkout. If the desk has been assembled, a 10% restocking fee also applies. See our returns and refunds policy for full details.

This doesn’t affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law. If your desk is faulty, we’ll repair, replace or refund it at no cost to you.

Can I swap my desk for a different finish?
Yes. If your desk is still unassembled and in its original box and packaging, we can swap it for the other oak finish for a flat $50 fee, which covers collecting your desk and delivering the new one. Just email us at hello@recess.com.au within 30 days of delivery.

Does my desk need to be unassembled to return it?
No, you’re welcome to assemble and try it. If you return it unassembled in its original box and packaging, there’s no restocking fee. If it’s been assembled, a 10% restocking fee applies. Please pack it back up carefully in its original carton so it gets back to us safely.

Is The Studio Standing Desk sustainably made?
The Studio Standing Desk is made from FSC-certified solid oak, sourced from responsibly managed forests. It’s packed without styrofoam in a recycled cardboard box, and backed by our lifetime warranty on structural parts, so it’s built to stay in your home and out of landfill. Can I recycle the packaging?
Yes. The Studio Standing Desk comes in a recycled cardboard box with no styrofoam, so the box can go straight in your household recycling bin. Remove any tape first.
