How it comes?
The Elite Standing Desk comes delivered in two recycled cardboard cartons: (1) Legs (21.3kg); (2) Table Top with frame pre-installed (39.5kg).
Assembly
Assembly Difficulty Level: Easy
The Elite Standing Desk comes delivered with the frame pre-installed and electronics already wired up, thus it only takes around 15-20 minutes in 4 simple steps. Grab a pal to assist getting the heavy cartons into your house or apartment.
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide customers have the option to upgrade to our 'Sit Back and Relax' assembly and rubbish removal service at checkout.

What’s The Elite Standing Desk made of?
The Elite Standing Desk has an FSC-certified solid oak top in Light Wood or Dark Wood, with rounded corners and soft edges. It sits on a charcoal steel frame with rounded cylindrical legs, powder-coated in green, brown or charcoal, and powered by dual motors.
How does the tilt work?
The top tilts electronically at the touch of a button, so you can set it to whatever angle suits you, from a gentle slope for reading to a steep drafting angle for sketching. Once it’s in position, a folding bracket underneath holds it steady.
Can I tilt or fold the desk at any height?
Yes. The Elite Standing Desk tilts and folds at any height, so you can draft sitting down or standing up.
How far does the top fold?
The front of the top folds all the way down to vertical, so the desk becomes a slim console just 28cm deep at the top (the feet extend a further 42cm at floor level). The back section stays level and still holds up to 130kg, so it works as a shelf for a lamp, plant or speaker.
Will my laptop slide when the desk is tilted?
At gentle angles, most laptops stay put. For steeper angles, or for pens, paper and tablets, use the included silicone pencil rail. Stick it wherever suits you, and it’ll stop things sliding off the edge.
Can I lean on the desk when it’s tilted?
The tilted top is designed to hold your work, not your weight. Keep it to light loads like a laptop, sketchbook or tablet, since leaning or resting heavily on it can wear the folding mechanism over time. For leaning in, bring the desk back to flat.
What’s the pencil rail?
Every Elite Standing Desk comes with a silicone pencil rail that sticks onto the top wherever you like. It keeps pens, pencils and tablets from sliding when the desk is tilted, and doubles as a ruler with cm and mm markings along the edge.
Is the tilt good for posture?
A slight tilt brings your work closer to you, which can help you sit or stand in a more relaxed position, with less reaching and hunching over the desk. It’s especially handy for writing, sketching and reading.
What size is The Elite Standing Desk?
The Elite Standing Desk measures 150W x 75D x 65-130H (cm). When folded, the top is just 28cm deep.
How much weight can The Elite Standing Desk lift?
The Elite Standing Desk lifts up to 130kg when the top is flat. When tilted, keep it to light loads like a laptop or sketchbook.
How do the memory presets work?
Set your desk to your preferred height, then save it to one of 2 memory buttons on the control panel. Next time, press that button and the desk moves to your height automatically. It’s handy if you share the desk, since you can each save your own height.
Is The Elite Standing Desk noisy?
No. The dual motors run at around 35dB, about as quiet as a whisper, so you can adjust your height mid-meeting without anyone noticing.
Is it safe around kids and pets?
A pleated cover over the hinge keeps fingers, paws and crumbs out of the folding mechanism. The desk also has anti-collision protection, so it stops and reverses if it meets an obstacle while moving. As with any electric desk, keep little ones clear while it’s moving.
How do I manage my cables?
A cable slot on the back edge lets you feed cords neatly down behind the desk. For an even tidier setup, add the Elite Cable Tray in a matching colour.
Can I assemble The Elite Standing Desk by myself?
Mostly, yes. The top arrives with the frame already installed, so you just attach the legs and feet. At 39.5kg, though, the top is a two-person lift, so grab a friend for getting it inside your house or apartment.

Maintenance and Longevity
How do I clean and care for The Elite Standing Desk?
Wipe the oak top with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners and sitting water. Use coasters under hot or wet cups, and a desk mat if you write or use a mouse in the same spot every day. Wipe the legs and frame with a dry or lightly damp cloth.
Will the oak change colour over time?
Like all natural oak, the top will slowly deepen in tone with exposure to light. It’s part of the character of solid timber. Keep the desk out of strong direct sunlight to help the colour stay even.
Can scratches be repaired?
Yes. Because the top is solid oak rather than veneer, light scratches and marks can be gently sanded back and refinished. For deeper damage, get in touch at hello@recess.com.au and we’ll point you in the right direction.
How do I look after the folding mechanism?
Avoid leaning on the top when it’s tilted, and keep tilted loads light. Clear the desk before folding it all the way down, and wipe the pleated hinge cover with a dry cloth to keep dust out.
How long will The Elite Standing Desk last?

What should I do if the desk stops moving?
Most issues can be fixed with a quick reset. Check the power cable is plugged in, then press and hold the down button until the desk reaches its lowest height and beeps. If that doesn’t solve it, email us at hello@recess.com.au and we’ll help.

How does shipping work and who handles delivery?
We’ve partnered with Allied Express to deliver all our orders, so yours is in safe hands. Most orders arrive in 2-3 business days in metro Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, 3-5 business days in Adelaide, 5-7 business days in regional areas, and 7-10 business days for other states and territories. Shipping rates depend on the product and your delivery address. See our shipping policy for full details.
How will The Elite Standing Desk arrive?
The Elite Standing Desk arrives in 2 recycled cardboard cartons, packed without styrofoam:
- Top with frame pre-installed: 161.5W x 85D x 21H (cm), 39.5kg
- Legs and feet: 76.5W x 35D x 15.5H (cm), 21.3kg
The larger carton is a two-person carry. If you’re in an apartment, Allied Express delivers to the main foyer, so having a friend to help carry it up is a must.
Can I get professional assembly or white-glove delivery?
Yes, for customers in metro Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Just add our Sit Back & Relax service at checkout. We’ll deliver, assemble and take care of the packaging recycling and disposal, so all you need to do is open the door.
Can I track my order?
Yes. If you add your mobile number at checkout, we’ll text you when your order is dispatched, with your tracking number. Tracking updates usually start showing that evening, once your order is scanned into our courier’s Sydney depot.
What if my desk arrives damaged?
Don’t stress, we pack every desk snugly inside its boxes. Boxes can pick up a few dents or scuffs on the way, but that doesn’t mean what’s inside is damaged. Open the boxes, check that everything is in good condition, and hold off on assembly until you’re happy with it. If anything is damaged, email us at hello@recess.com.au with a few photos and we’ll sort it out.
Do you deliver to regional and remote areas?
Yes, we deliver to most regional and remote areas across Australia. Delivery costs a little more the further we travel, and you’ll see the exact cost at checkout before you pay.
Some remote areas can’t be selected at checkout, but we can usually still get your order to you. Email us at hello@recess.com.au with your suburb, postcode and the product you’d like, and we’ll send you a custom delivery quote.
Payment
Can I pay with Afterpay or Zip?
Yes. You can choose Afterpay or Zip at checkout to spread the cost of The Elite Standing Desk over time. Eligibility criteria, terms and fees may apply, so check with the provider before you buy.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Afterpay, Zip, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay. Choose your preferred method at checkout.
Is my payment secure?
Yes. Our checkout is powered by Shopify, which is certified to PCI DSS Level 1, the highest standard for payment security. Your card details are encrypted and processed securely, and we never see or store your full card number.
Do you offer discounts for bulk or business orders?
Yes. Buy two or more Elite Standing Desks and save, with up to 12% off when you buy four or more. For larger or more complex orders, email our team at sales@recess.com.au and we’ll put together a quote.
Returns and Refunds
What’s your return policy?
We offer 30-day change-of-mind returns, so you can see The Elite Standing Desk in your space and make sure it’s right. Just get in touch within 30 days of delivery and we’ll cover the return freight. We’ll email you a prepaid label to print and stick on the box, or if you’re in Sydney, we’ll book a courier to collect it, no printing needed.
Once it’s back with us, we’ll refund your purchase price, minus the shipping paid at checkout. If the desk has been assembled, a 10% restocking fee also applies. See our returns and refunds policy for full details.
This doesn’t affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law. If your desk is faulty, we’ll repair, replace or refund it at no cost to you.
Can I swap my desk for a different finish?
Yes. If your desk is still unassembled and in its original box and packaging, we can swap it for the other oak finish for a flat $50 fee, which covers collecting your desk and delivering the new one. Just email us at hello@recess.com.au within 30 days of delivery.
Does my desk need to be unassembled to return it?
No, you’re welcome to assemble and try it. If you return it unassembled in its original box and packaging, there’s no restocking fee. If it’s been assembled, a 10% restocking fee applies. Please pack it back up carefully in its original carton so it gets back to us safely.
